This is a vintage medicine
bottle that once contained “Astringosol”, a concentrated antiseptic, produced
by Frederick Stearns & Company.
Established
in 1887,
Frederick Stearns & Company was a leading
pharmaceutical manufacturer in 19th century Detroit, Michigan, until 1921.
This glass bottle stands approximately 2 ½”
in height, including the cork stopper, and displays the company label that
explains the contents of the bottle with directions for use.
Both the bottle and label are in very good
condition.
There is some discoloration
to the bottle and slight wear to the label.
The cork stopper has some damage but is intact and I did not try to
remove for fear of damaging it.
Despite
these few flaws this vintage bottle has survived for nearly 100 years and would
make an excellent addition to any collection.
